Ms. Undersee weighs in at around 5'3", making her relatively short. Her height would be hard for her to work in the mines, but since she's the mayor's daughter, it isn't necessary for her to do so. She weighs 115 lbs, her status in District 12 enabling her to eat more than most, but she may still not get as much nourishment as she would really like.
Her skin is a light color, and burns easily. It has a few freckles dotting her arms, and a few beauty marks as well. She doesn't particularly like her skin, but she attempts to ignore the slightly raised darker lumps, for if she were to focus her attention on them, she would remark about how ugly she looks, making her want to crawl under a rock. Hair is also a light shade, more closer to a honey color than the typical black shade of most District 12ers, showing that her ancestors were from the merchant class.
Her eyes are a bright blue, accompanied with small eyelashes that glint slightly in sunlight. Her right eye is a lazy eye, meaning that it may trail off when she's talking to someone. Although the family is rather important in District 12, they aren't very high up in the hierarchy of Panem, so there never was enough money to take care of her eye - most of the money went to pay for her mother's supply of morphling. Her eyes are often bloodshot, for oftentimes she stays up at night, sitting quietly at her piano, wishing that she could be as good as her mother was.

Silence
Perhaps that is all that most people will ever witness when they are alone with this Madge Undersee. For the most part, this is all that Madge will ever be. Quiet. She will sit there, acting polite for company's sake, but she'll be silent until called upon to speak. One may think of this as rude, but she simply is not very good at idle chitchat. In fact, since she tends to be forced to talk to others, she tends to despise small talk, even though that tends to be the make up of her entire day. She does want to make friends, but she finds the normal ways of getting to know someone problematic and full of possible misunderstandings.
In this sense, it may be hard for one to get to know Madge Undersee, but she simply is much more complex than you might think. Constantly she is trying to think of something to say, anything that would ease the burden put upon her to speak to someone. Of course, once you've spoken to her often enough, she may become comfortable enough to actually speak to you without prompting, but for the most part it's rather hard for her to do so.
However, if she does consider you to be trustworthy, she'll put her faith in you. Maybe one might call this being gullible, but that isn't the case. Madge is very analytical, looking at the whole picture before making up her mind as to what decisions she should make. She'll make sure that she's looked at all other options before making up her mind, which at times might make her seem a bit unsure of herself, especially when it's her turn to choose what to do. But referring to the aforementioned facts about Madge, she'll trust you wholeheartedly, because countless times you've proven yourself to be a trustworthy person, even if you didn't know it.

overall history;
Madge Undersee was born on a typical morning in District 12. The day had been hot, and Mrs. Undersee had been laboring for quiet some time before the girl was finally given birth to. Her husband had been caught up in a meeting, and had arrived at the room late - she had already been born. Nevertheless, the unconditional love for their child saved his behind, for his wife wasn't focused on him at that point. She was focused on her new baby.
Madge grew up living in a rather quiet household. She hadn't seen her parents much, and was raised by the two servants that her parents hired as help. Perhaps the girl loved those servants more than her own parents, for whenever she was supposed to talk to her mother, or play with her father, she would shrink back a few feet towards the servants, before finally agreeing to spend time with them. This habit persisted until the age of 7, when Madge finally realized that her parents were much kinder than some of the others in District 12 - she had witnessed a mother yelling at her son; slapping him even, and vowed that she would never do such a thing to her mother.
School was relatively easy for the girl - she was rather smart, excelling in the math portion of school. She tended to sit next to one girl - Katniss Everdeen, for she was really the only one who didn't talk as much as the other girls, especially Delly Cartwright. Eventually, Madge developed feelings for the girl that made her rather confused. She thought that girls could only like boys, until she inquired about this to one of the servants, who revealed otherwise. Fear gripped her ever since, leaving her to stay safely in the closet, looking at her crush from an onlooker's view.
So she stays like this to this very day - polite, smart and longing for someone that she knows is out of her range of suitors. And she hates it.

She had waited for her to come out of school, but didn't catch a glimpse of the black hair, braided down the back, with those grey eyes that made chills run up her spine. But nevertheless, she had waited for a rather long time, shifting her weight onto both of her feet, her schoolbooks getting heavier and heavier in her hands as the minutes ticked by. Still no sign of Katniss. With a sigh, the girl finally trudged home, having nobody to accompany her the way there.
Entering her home, she unceremoniously placed her books on the floor, breathing quietly for a second, her arms sore from all of the lifting. Eventually, she had enough sense to drag her books up to her room, where she quickly finished her homework, and was left to do whatever she really wanted. So, trudging downstairs, she reached the piano again.
The keys seemed to have been freshly polished, shining in the dim light that shone in through the window. The girl paid no attention to the lighting however. She just sat at the keys, and stared for a time, her fingers itching to play. But she didn't. Madge scratched at her face, she fidgeted. But she didn't play. Wondering why her brain wouldn't allow her to do so, she simply sat there for a few more minutes, before finally giving up, and staring out of the window for the rest of the evening.
