HARPER L. BESSETT
And looks like Nina Dobrev
I can make a single rose
stand slowly in the wind.
Make the whole world disappear,
watch there it goes again.

overall appearance; Harper stands at about 5'4, fairly skinny and without muscle considering she doesn't do much physical work. While she isn't strong with her arms, she makes a fairly fast runner because of her long legs. Her skin is a little darker than the average citizen's, but because of District 6's beautiful often sunny weather, she does happen to spend a lot of time outside and gets a better tan than most. She was also born with slightly darker skin, which comes from her mother's side. Beauty is often said to be in the eye of the beholder, and while her father often dotes on her "pretty looks", Harper isn't all that much concerned about them.
Because of this, she doesn't wear a lot of makeup that her father buys from the Capitol for her. She does wear black paint (like what we would call eyeliner) around her eyes to help with the sunshine. But for the most part, Harper believes in the all-natural look, but she does wear jewelry attached to her ears, like earrings. She often wears pants and a regular cotton shirt, and a single bracelet she received from her mother when she was ten, shortly before her mother passed on.

overall personality; Harper, in general, is a fairly pleasant young girl. She has a very sunshiney personality, matching the wonderful weather District Six always seems to have. It's reasonably difficult to make Harper angry with you, but she does get passionate about a lot of things, though she typically holds her tongue in the presence of people who could possibly to damage to her. One of the things that Harper is passionate about is the Hunger Games. She knows very well that it's the Capitol's fun, and that they probably won't be changed, but she sincerely wishes that they didn't have to happen (explained in history). She's an extremely loyal friend, and gets to be really stubborn when it comes to things and people she cares about.
She's extremely loving to her father, a man who cares deeply about her in return. Even though she lacks a mother, Harper still has a bright outlook on things and isn't the least bit traumatized by her mother's death. She actually uses it as a motive for day to day living, and Harper is always trying to do her father proud by getting good marks in school and learning to do the very craft he does - healing. She's a reasonably intelligent girl, and is an amazingly fast learner.
Despite all of these traits, of course, she has her flaws. For one, Harper is exceedingly stubborn, and doesn't like to budge on opinions or facts. Second, she is an extremely judgemental person. All because she has a sunshine type of attitude doesn't mean she has her mean thoughts every once in a while. She's just very good at ignoring them. Lastly, she's somewhat innocent and sheltered. Because of her mother's passing away, her father likes to keep her reasonably guarded from the world, so Harper really doesn't have any idea how hard life can be for the ordinary citizens. She's somewhat clueless when it comes to street smarts.

overall history; Harper Leanne Bessett was born to Leanne and Randolf Bessett sixteen years ago in the wealthy District 6 hospital where her father works. The birth had no complications, due to the techonology in the hospital, despite the fact that her mother'd had a medical condition that should have made it reasonably difficult to have a child. She was taken home to their nice house and was raised as a happy Bessett child. She was sent to school and did fairly well there.
Her best friend growing up was a boy named Darius, whose mother worked with her father so they often saw each other either at their parents' work or at school. They were playmates, and often mused what it would be like to live in the Capitol and what would happen one day if they were to become married. But when they were thirteen, three years ago, Darius was selected to go to the Hunger Games. Harper's father was an extremely wealthy man, and her Aunt Harriana often served as a sponsor during the Hunger Games. So she begged her aunt to send Darius something, in the hopes that she would get to see her best friend again. Unfortunately, Darius was killed two days into the games, and she had the displeasure of watching him be drowned by a tribute from District 4.
Ever since, Harper has been a passionate disbeliever in the games. Shortly after Darius' graphic death, her mother passed away from natural causes. Her father has taken care of her since, and has taken her to every Hunger Games in the Capitol since the death of Darius. Harper doesn't necessarily like going, but she feels as though it's her responsibility to Darius to try and help as many contestants as she could. She was a witness to the romance of Katniss and Peeta during the last Hunger Games, and became a fan of them, even though she knew they'd probably have to die. But secretly, she was pleased that they chose to defy the Capitol at the very end, when they nearly died.
So now, Harper lives in District 6 just as she always has, and travels to the Capitol every once in a while with her aunt and father partially in honor of Darius and partially to try and help the contestants int the Hunger Games anyway she can in that meager little way of hers. Harper even saves up money herself over the year to spend on something to buy for one of the contestants. Now, it's time to prepare for the Hunger Games again.

Harper loved going to work with her father. She didn't get to go all that often, but when she did, she absolutely loved it. Harper enjoyed helping people, healing people. When she graduated from school, Harper hoped to be the same as her father - a renowned doctor in District Six who was also a medicine developer. So she watched in eagerness as her father worked in the labs, working with new compounds to try and discover a new and more effective painkiller that got rid of the pain the instant it touched your tongue without knocking you out for three hours. He looked as though he were concentrating, and as Harper watched from the window, she almost felt like it should be her down there, developing the new technologies.
But there were also other things on Harper's mind. The Reaping was coming up soon, a day of dread for all parents and children alike. Harper's father, a wealthy man, never had Harper apply for tessera, but nevertheless her name would be in that horrid bowl four times. Her sixteenth birthday had just passed, and she wanted to live to become seventeen. And then eighteen, so she would never have to worry about the Hunger Games ever again. Her father often told Harper not to worry - there were hundreds of other children in District Six. Why should she worry?
The only problem was, Harper always had a panic attack before the Reaping every year. If she was to be picked, she knew very well what her fate would be. She would die, just as Darius had, in the arena. Probably within the first five minutes, considering as she had absolutely no combat training and would have no idea what she was doing with twenty-three other teenagers trying to kill her. She'd have a heart attack before she even entered the Games. Harper shuddered at the thought - she didn't like to think about the Hunger Games, especially after Darius. They'd had a plan. Get married, get old together, and maybe even have children. But that had all been taken away, because of the Hunger Games.
She hoped that one day, someone would have the guts to stop the Capitol. Harper was no rebel, but she had the makings of one deep down in her heart.
